Seymour Art Gallery
My submission – Tai Chi – was accepted by the Seymour Art Gallery for their upcoming exhibition – Discovery: Fire – running January 17 through February 7, 2015. The Seymour Art Gallery is in Deep Cove in North Vancouver. I linked my submission to the fire theme through mankind's long use of using trees for fuelling fires.
Another aspect of fire is the always important consideration of containment. Rocks and stones have probably been used for this purpose as long as people have had fires. This creates a link to the river rock in my piece, though it is somewhat ironic that the roles have been reversed, with the potential fuel doing the containing of the rock.

2nd Annual Wine & Art Walk In Historic Downtown Abbotsford
I will be participating in the 2nd Annual Wine & Art Walk in Historic Downtown Abbotsford on Sept. 11, 2014. If I wasn't exhibiting, I would want to participate as one of the walking attendees! For $20 you get to walk through downtown Abbotsford sampling wines, enjoying art, I believe there will also be snacks, a few small gifts, and a chance to win a $800+ gift basket. And if you think you may have a little problem practicing moderation, there will also be designated drivers! My thanks to Su Casa Design – the host for my exhibit space – and to the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association – the sponsor and organizer of this event.
There are a limited number of tickets available – move quickly!

Vancouver Alternative Fashion Week[End]
I'm very pleased to have been accepted to exhibit at Vancouver Alternative Fashion Week[End] - #VALT2014, on November 21st, 22nd & 23rd, 2014. What I really like is how their theme for this year – 'vicissitudes' – is so relevant to my work, trees, farming and growing, and to nature in general. For trees, there is almost constant changes they have to face – from weather and seasonal changes, competition from their neighbouring plants, pests and creatures like me, and their own almost never ending growing. And the trees I grow for my artwork would certainly agree with the often negative connotations of vicissitudes – it means the end of their lives when I decide to harvest them – though a certain amount of their presence will live on in the art. See you at the show!
